The Role

Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College’s popularity and success are built upon our commitment to provide our students with the best possible learning experience and the highest standards of support and guidance. We are proud of our dedicated staff and our vibrant student community, as evidenced by our recent Ofsted Inspection, which rated the College as “Outstanding” for Overall Effectiveness and in all other areas, with no recommendations for improvement.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Course Leader for A Level Geology to join our team from August 2025. This position is part of a succession plan due to the upcoming retirement of our current Course Leader. The successful candidate will initially play a crucial shared leadership role, before taking over this high achieving programme completely from August 2026, continuing to shape the course into the future. We currently deliver Eduqas A level Geology (A480). The subject is a popular choice, with nearly 80 students currently studying Geology at QE.

Teachers in the College have very high expectations of both themselves and students, and the College is committed to developing a wide range of teaching for learning strategies. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and highly effective leader and manager. As well as maintaining up to date knowledge of developments in Geology, you will also be able to contribute to the teaching of other related curriculum areas.

The College is committed to safeguarding our students and an enhanced DBS check is required for all posts. The College will also make an online check on all shortlisted candidates. The College values diversity and actively promotes equality of opportunity. As a disability symbol employer, all disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for a post will be offered an interview.

We welcome applications from colleagues with a background of teaching in schools or colleges.

If you have any difficulties completing the on-line application form, please contact Sam Recruit on 01924 907319 or the College HR Team at hr@qeliz.ac.uk
